Palia Perithia
This is a protected village located deep in the bosom of the mountain, with ancient roots, stone mansions, mysterious streets and many churches, a “ghost village” that preserves – though ruined – the legacy of its Venetian architecture. Its name was probably given because of the magnificent panoramic view (the Greek word meaning “look around”), however the previously crowded Palia Perithia was abandoned when the fear of pirates passed and people moved to the coasts. In winter, it is inhabited by few people and gets life mostly on weekends as it is the favourite excursion place for many Corfu residents. In the village there are some good restaurants with local Corfu dishes.
